Honfleur may be a small town of 6,000 inhabitants but it receives 5.2 million visitors a year, which includes those from both cruise and river ships.

Since 2013, when the cruise terminal was inaugurated at Quai en Seine #3, calls have increased on a regular basis, reaching 60 and 42,000 passengers in 2019. Despite pandemic recovery still taking place, there are 31 calls booked this year including from Windstar Cruises which is visiting for the first time. Next year 40 are already scheduled.

Ships up to 260m in length with a 9m draught can come alongside the main quay #3 and those up to 180m and 9m draught on the secondary quay #1.

The plan is to equip the terminal quay with shore power capability.

“Given our activity and the size of the ships we receive, the solution chosen is a mobile unit,” explains Jerome Radanovic, cruise promotion Honfleur Terre d’Estuaire.

This €7 million investment is primarily for cruiseships but could extend to commercial ships also. The project is being carried out by Haropa Port which is providing the majority of the financing but assisted by the French government, the town and tourist office of Honfleur.

Silver Dawn, Ocean Odyssey and SH Diana will make first time calls to Honfleur this summer.
