Dover goes for recycled ocean plastics stand

Dover opted to construct a stand made out of recycled plastic from the oceans for this year’s Seatrade Global in Miami this April.

Everything from the floor to the counter and chairs were not only made from the plastics but will also be stored for reuse next year and the ones after, rather than being thrown away at the end of the show.

Sonia Limbrick, head of cruise Port of Dover, commented: “The ceo of Hurtigruten dropped by and said he was inspired by the stand.”

Glass water bottles were refilled each day and there was no fridge. The statutory giveaways were pencils which, once used, can be planted. Each had a pocket of seeds at the end for growth in the garden. There is however a use-by date of one year. Happy scribbling!
