This year Malmo is hosting 12 calls generating about 34,000 passengers compared with about 31,000 passengers last year. Ten calls are from Pullmantur’s Empress, one from Horizon and one from Passat Kreuzfahrten’s Delphin.

Next year 15 calls are scheduled with the three ships calling but also Hapag-Lloyd Cruises’ Europa 2 on one call and AIDAcara on five.

This year’s first call was on May 10 marking the beginning of Malmo’s second home-porting cruise season. Next year the first call is on May 13 and the season is extended by almost a month from the final call this year being September 13 to next year being October 2.

A survey conducted among passengers and crew members of Pullmantur reveals that cruise passengers spent about SEK 7m (E0.76m) in Malmo in 2013. The visitors were very satisfied with eight out of 10 saying that their visit met or exceeded their expectations.

The highest ratings were awarded to the service and treatment received in shops and restaurants.
