LH, 500 years

Wednesday, June 14, 2017 - 17:40 by le-havre

The festivities of 500 years began a few days ago. Le Havre Tourism has been promoting this event for months with both the general public and tourism professionals.
Beyond its missions and beyond the usual scope of its competences, the Tourist Office's staff was keen to celebrate the half millennium of the destination they promote with passion, in the "performance" mode.
Thus, last Wednesday, in the afternoon, the Tourist Office’s staff intervened on the beach taking advantage of the schedule of low tide to write on the sand using pebbles: LH 500ANS (LH 500 years)
To prepare this performance, they have worked with the service of the SIGU (Urban Geographic Information System), with the Beach Services and some services of City of Le Havre to evaluate and identify the technical needs, the authorizations, the constraints ...
A few numbers to keep in mind:
- letters lenght 7,5 m for a height of 1,30m.
- the entire inscription was 76.69m.
- the estimated number of pebbles is 24,504 for a volume of more than 10m³.
A photographer realized an aerial shot by drone with the Perret architecture in perspective.
