Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) secretary general Raphael von Heereman and government affairs director Marco Digioia attended the Cruise Europe (CE) conference in Dublin last week.

The two associations are forging a partnership which will bring added value to the cruise industry. Vice chairman CLIA Europe David Dingle, who gave the state of the industry address, commented: “This is a very exciting time for Cruise Europe with many opportunities as the cruise industry continues to expand its capacity. Together CLIA and CE can drive that growth through mutual cooperation, particularly in creating the right regulatory conditions.”

CE chairman Michael McCarthy added: “With 25 years of history, CE is well placed to discuss and lobby on local, national and international regulatory issues. We can draw on a wealth of experience from the CE family of members which numbers over a 100 ports.”

He also commented that the CE management team is “looking forward to a collaborative approach with CLIA to drive this exciting industry forward”.
