On April 24, the Porto Cruise Terminal welcomed the inaugural call of Celebrity Silhouette. It was a very special day for the port as the Celebrity Silhouette became the largest cruise ship that Porto Cruise Terminal has ever hosted.
Celebrity Silhouette was on her 9-day round trip through Portugal, Spain and France from Southampton also visiting Vigo, A Coruña, Bilbao, La Rochelle and Le Havre. She has arrived at the Porto Cruise Terminal with 2.533 passengers on board, mostly British, served by 1.155 crew members.
Celebrity Silhouette is a Solstice-class cruise ship operated by Celebrity Cruises, a subsidiary of Royal Caribbean Group. The 122.210 GT-vessel is 319 metres in length overall and has a beam of 36.8 metres. On 29 May 2011, the ship was floated out from the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg and was delivered to Celebrity Cruises on 18 July 2011.
A Plaque Exchange Ceremony with Port Authorities and ship's Captain was held at the Porto Cruise Terminal Air Bridge to acknowledge this first visit of the ship to Leixões.
