Porto Cruise Terminal welcomed the largest cruise ship ever. The new 315m long Mein Schiff 1 is the largest cruise ship ever calling Leixões and the Porto Cruise Terminal.

This operation was very important for the Porto Cruise Terminal. With almost 316 meters of length, Mein Schiff 1 was the first cruise ship ever over 300m of length calling the port and a real challenge for future operations. "Mein Schiff 1 operations could not have been better, which only reveals that Porto Cruise Terminal is fulfilling its objectives", emphasizes Leixões Port Authority.

Mein Schiff 1 is the largest cruise ship of the German Tui Cruises fleet and this call at Leixões was part of a 12-day voyage from Bremerhaven, Germany, to the Spanish islands of Gran Canaria with over 3.000 passengers and over 1.000 crew members on board.

2018 will be another record breaking year for the Porto Cruise Terminal as 106 cruise ship calls are already planned 18 of them new to the port and end year numbers are expected to be above 110.000 passengers. This will be a 6% rise in calls and 15% in passengers over last year numbers, which had been the best year ever for cruises at the Port of Leixões. These numbers will represent an estimated revenue of around 8 million euros in the tourist offer in the North of Portugal Region.
