Portsmouth International Port has released its initial cruise schedule for 2022 which numbers 61 calls, just over half of which are turnaround calls. Highlights include the inaugural spring season for Virgin Voyages’ Valiant Lady and a maiden call from Viking Mars.
Throughout the pandemic the port has continued to welcome travellers in a safe and sensible way. Portsmouth was one of the first ports in the UK to achieve the My Care standard, recognised by independent assessors DNV, for protocols to manage and reduce the risk of Covid-19 infections. The certification was renewed in September 2021.
Maiden visits from cruise lines such as AIDA, Poseidon Expeditions, Oceania Cruises, Seabourn and Mystic Cruises will take place, alongside those from longstanding clients such as Noble Caledonia, Phoenix Reisen, Fred Olsen Cruise Lines, Nicko Cruises, Voyages to Antiquity, Lindblad and Sea Cloud Cruises.
To mark the launch of the 2022 cruise schedule, the port worked with Strong Island Media to create a short film that celebrates the combination of history, attractions and a harbour entrance that makes arriving in Portsmouth a special experience.
