On July 25, the Porto Cruise Terminal hosted the maiden call of the newest Atlas Ocean Voyages’ cruiseship, World Navigator.

The ship left the Port of Viana, Portugal, on July 24 to board passengers at the Port of Leixoes, Porto Portugal, on her inaugural cruise to Greece. This 11-day itinerary also included visits to Gibraltar, Formentera, Ibiza, Capri and finally Piraeus.

To welcome the maiden call of this ship, the port presented the captain during the traditional ceremony plaque exchange, adapted to the Covid-19 restrictions currently in force.

The port was very pleased to welcome the first cruiseship in 16 months in maximum security conditions and in full articulation with cruise companies and national health entities.

Until the end of this year, 30 cruise calls are expected to call Leixoes. For 2021, 140 cruise calls and about 160,000 passengers were scheduled but were not confirmed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
