Over the last 12 months, Adelte has delivered 19 seaport passenger boarding bridges (SPBBs) to cruise and ferry terminals around the world, including those in Barcelona, Cherbourg, Civitavecchia, Lisbon, Southampton, Port Miami, Port of Seattle, Keelung, Incheon, Taipei and Brodick.

Current projects include the delivery of SPBBs to the Overseas Passenger Terminal in Sydney, the Ocean Terminal in Southampton, the Palacrociere Terminal in Savona and Cruise Terminal 3 in Port Canaveral.

On September 20 Adelte received the supplier of the year 2018 award during Seatrade Med in Lisbon.

“After winning this award for the first time in 2008, we are once again delighted to be recognised for our commitment to deliver innovative and tailor-made seaport passenger boarding bridges [SPBBs] and global services to enhance cruise and ferry terminal operations all around the world,” commented Jordi Floreta, vp Adelte.

Group marketing director Martin Westphal explained some of the hurdles that have to be overcome when designing the bridges. For example in Cherbourg, the new bridge had to be designed in the style of the historical and existing bridges. These were first used in May by Disney Cruise Line. With regard to Terminal F in Miami which is dedicated to MSC Seaside, he said: “Getting the right design because the ship has overhanging terraces was challenging”.
