LE HAVRE - Transat Jacques Vabre
The 37 boats and 74 crew, 9 different nationalities, in this bi-annual double-handed transatlantic “Route du Café” (Coffee trading route) will race the 4,350 miles to Salvador de Bahia, in Brazil starting from the port of Le Havre. Race times should range from 10 days to 25 days.
The Transat Jacques Vabre is a major date on the calendar for the habitants of Le Havre, taking place every other year, for one week the city’s quays hosts a village of attractions, accompanied by concerts and other festive happenings not to point out the firework for the last evening.
The rule of two has been a constant on this race: Two sailors, two ports, a biannual race and above all two major partners, the city of Le Havre and Jacques Vabre, who have beaten the path to defend the fundamental human, sporting and environmental principles that the race is based on.
