Along with the reconstructed harbour promenade in 2015 Trondheim plans to improve the bus parking facilities within the security zone at the main cruise quay. That will allow up to 20 buses to park within the security zone and simplify the dispatch for the shore excursions. The quay area is continuously improving, giving easier access to the city centre as well as to recreational facilities close to the docking site. The main shopping area in the city centre of Trondheim will offer 10% discount again this year to all cruise passengers and crew members. The tourist information is open Monday to Saturday between 9am and 18pm and during high season even on Sundays. Don’t forget to swing by the new foodhall “Mathall” in Prinsensgate to get a fresh and genuine taste of the regions highest quality food. Welcome to Trondheim in 2016!

Trondheim Turnaround Port: connected, culinary and capable
With restrictions lifted the Port of Trondheim is eager to get back to offering turnarounds. 2022 is the year that Trondheim and the region of Trøndelag will shine, being awarded the title of European Region of Gastronomy. It is like the cherry on top, since three local restaurants recently received a Michelin-star. - I have no doubt that more guests will come to Trondheim and that they’d like to stay for a couple of days before they embark on their next adventure, says Marketing Manager Cruise, Maria K. Undheim, at Trondheim Port. The Port of Trondheim is centrally located in the city, 30 minutes from the airport, and a short walking distance to the Clarion Hotel & Congress which has been used as terminal facility for check-in. Up to 2600 cruise passengers have seamlessly been embarked and disembarked at the same time before. - We have successfully operated turnarounds with Pullmantur Cruises since 2012 and would like to use our experience to ensure smooth turnarounds for other cruise lines too, says Maria K. Undheim, at Trondheim Port. Trondheim, the Royal capital of Norway, is well-connected with direct international connections to cities such as London, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Malaga, Nice and Alicante. Recently, it was announced that Berlin and Manchester will be added in 2022 as well as a connection to New York via Iceland. In 2020 the area adjoining the cruise quay was enlarged. That adds more flexibility for operations with smaller vessels. Trondheim Port does not have a designated cruise terminal, therefore screening of guests and luggage were previously done at the airport or within the vessel. Let’s start the journey in Norway in its heart – Mid-Norway also known as the Home of Nordic Flavours.

Expecting all time high in cruise calls 2018
A high increase in cruise calls as well as the returning turnaround operations to Trondheim Port call for a strengthened workforce as well as shorex and port infrastructure improvements. 13 new tours were added to the existing program and a new bollard will further improve mooring at the cruise quay. That is why the cruise coordinator will work 100% in 2018 representing both Trondheim Port Authority and the destination. Trondheim will have the pleasure of celebrating the Norwegian National Day together with the guests of Meraviglia. It will be very special for both the 4500 guests and us! We also welcome back Pullmantur with an all-time high of 7 turnarounds of MS Zenith. Infrastructure-wise we can report that the market square in Trondheim will undergo major reconstruction during the next two years. Trondheim Port Authority will build a new bollard (200 t) at 240m west of the cruise quay as well as enlarge the bus-parking within the ISPS-area even more. Works are to be completed by August 2018. Last but not least Trondheim Port Authority will introduce discounts on harbour dues for ships registered in ESI in 2018. Additionally, rental of a new 12m gangway is possible from now on.
