Halmstad is the regional capital of the Swedish west coast county of Halland, situated where the outflow of river Nissan meets the sea, just between Gothenburg and Helsingborg. The municipality is over 700 years old and the Halmstad Castle, built in 1619, was once the Danish Kings northernmost royal establishment. In 1645, after several wars between Sweden and Denmark, Halland became Swedish. Today Halmstad is most known to visitors for the long sandy beaches, a vital and charming city center, the fine art and being “the capital of golf” in Sweden. The port of Halmstad has over 3000 meters of quay and is a vibrant logistic center. We can offer small vessels to disembark at the river Nissan quay, medium sized at the Kattegatt harbor and larger cruise ships to anchor south of the port and tender to the Nissan river quay. The tourist organisation Destination Halmstad and the Port of Halmstad makes a strong team waiting to do our outmost for you and your passengers. Welcome to Halmstad!
