Destination Information
The Port of Longyearbyen is the main logistics hub for the cruise industry and for cargo to the various settlements on Spitsbergen. Conveniently located near the town center and Longyearbyen Airport—with regular flights to Tromsø and Oslo—the port has become a key driver for Arctic research in recent years. Numerous research vessels and projects rely on Longyearbyen’s logistics services, supported by skilled local businesses ready to assist with most challenges above 78° north.
The cruise pier, Bykaia, is situated 1.5 km from the town center and features a port lounge available to all guests, offering free Wi-Fi and comfortable seating. In addition, a 350-meter floating pier serves smaller expedition cruise ships, daily tour boats, leisure vessels up to 24 meters, and other passenger boats with regular departures.
We welcome you to Longyearbyen!
