Kristiansund

Kristiansund is situated at the very edge of the Atlantic Ocean, spread across four main islands with a charming harbour at its centre. The town is known for opera and clipfish (bacalao), and even has its own clipfish museum. The harbour boat Sundbåten is a great way to experience the town. The tiny island of Grip is also worth a visit. The scenic Atlantic Ocean Road is only a 30-minute drive away. Cruise ships berth directly in the town centre, just steps from shopping and attractions. An annual opera festival takes place in February, ideal for a themed cruise in combination with the Northern Lights further north. Smøla island, located just north of Kristiansund, is a tender port for small cruise ships and expeditions sailings. Here, guests can visit both a living fishing village (Veiholmen) and a vacated one (Brattværet). Other activities include sea eagle safari, hiking, kayaking, visiting a salmon farm, or enjoying a cultural experience with a local music performance.
