Gdansk

In the north of Poland, at the mouth of the Vistula River on the south coast of the Baltic Sea, amongst the beauty of unique Pomeranian nature, Gdansk was created more than 1,000 years ago. It is a city of nations, different cultures, religions, monuments and steeped in history which the Poles are proud of.

Gdansk is the biggest town in Northern Poland covering an area of 262sq km and a population of almost 500,000 people. Over the last 13 centuries, there has been a constant flow of visitors to Gdansk from all over the world initially mostly for commercial reasons. The invasion continues still and in even greater volume. However, the image, history and tradition of the city of Gdansk makes it more and more attractive each year. The multitude of museums, monuments, Baltic Sea resorts, old churches, castles dating back to the period of the invasion of the Germanic order of knights, national parks, Hanseatic granaries, the 13th century gothic Cathedral in Oliwa with one of the most famous rococo organs, St. Mary’s Church - the biggest brick church in Europe or the 14th century Great Crane - the symbol of Gdansk, altogether presents a picture of the Pomeranian Region, so unique in its beauty, where Gdansk reigns as its capital.

Gdansk has always been the pearl of Polish, European and world history. Here in the 17th century Daniel Fahrenheit was born - founder of a temperature scale. Here also commenced World War II. Half a century later, the Solidarity movement with Lech Walesa was founded.

Gdansk is one of the biggest Polish ports located merely 15 minutes by bus from the centre of the City, the Port of Gdansk offers two passenger vessel berths. At the moment, cruiseships moor at the Oliwskie Quay - where we can accept vessels up to 225m in length and 10.2m draught. Cruiseships can also be accommodated in other areas of the port like the Westerplatte Ferry Terminal, for ships up to 200m in length and 8.3m draught.

So if you are looking for an interesting, not completely discovered, unique place and an adventure among the Slavonic climate then visit our City of Gdansk and let the emotion carry you away.
