Harwich International Port is located on the East Coast of England, just under 70 miles from London. The A120 and A12 trunk roads ensure quick access from all London airports, the adjacent railway station offers an alternative for those preferring rail. The dedicated and friendly cruise team take pride in the purpose-built cruise terminal building, providing a first class service. Around 100,000 cruise passengers pass through each year and every effort is made to ensure all aspects of their experience is hassle free. The Port has established itself as a major UK cruise port for turnaround calls, now serving a number of markets; North Cape, Baltic, Scandinavia, around Britain and the Mediterranean. In conjunction with the Haven Cruise project, the Port is seeking to attract more port-of-call business, and to promote the many local tourist attractions. Harwich is a quaint old seafaring town containing historic buildings, interesting museums and a good range of friendly bars and restaurants.

Harwich figures show significant increase this year

Harwich is expecting 35 calls and over 96,000 passengers this year, compared with 28 calls and 85,806 passengers in 2011.

Royal Caribbean International’s Jewel of the Seas and Discovery Cruises’ Discovery will both be homeporting again this year. In addition, Thomson Cruises is making seven homeport calls with Thomson Spirit, having had a two-year break from the UK market.

Also returning to the UK port is MSC Cruises with MSC Lirica on two calls having not called since 2008.

Harwich has 26 calls booked in 2010 compared to 46 turnaround and six transit calls in 2009 bringing a total of 135,000 passengers to the east coast of England port.Read more
