Guernsey

A location some 112 kms from the south coast of Britain but only 40kms from the coast of France makes the Channel Island of Guernsey an ideal location for cruise calls. St Peter Port has been a popular port of call for many years and is capable of handling at least two large cruise liners at any one time with a high turnover of between 60 and 70 calls per year.

Passengers disembark at a dedicated cruise pontoon just 600 metres from the town centre after a short tender transfer from the liner into St Peter Port harbour (5-10 minutes), or from an alongside berth depending on size and availability.

All passengers arriving by sea admire the beautiful panoramic views, which include Guernsey's sister Islands of Herm and Sark. St Peter Port town is unquestionably served by one of the most picturesque harbours in Europe.

Guernsey is a popular call on cruise round Britain

Guernsey (St Peter Port) has witnessed an increase in around-British-Isles cruising. About 45% of calls and 51% of passengers are on such an itinerary.

This year 63,134 passengers on 69 calls visited the Channel Islands’ port while, in 2012, the forecast is for 80,000 passengers on 57 calls. The increase is due to MSC Cruises calling six times with about 2,000 passengers each time.

Inaugural calls this year included Queen Elizabeth and Mein Schiff 2.
