French Minister of Tourism Hervé Novelli paid an official visit to Le Havre today during the call of Queen Victoria.
During lunch on board the discussion went about the involvement in cruise development of the Municipality of Le Havre,
represented by its Mayor Antoine Rufenacht. The city, now identified under the trademark “Le Havre, the gateway to Paris” has recently inaugurated facilities for turnarounds in the Cruise Terminal.
In 2010, 67 calls are scheduled at Le Havre and 120 000
passengers are expected, compared to 50 calls and 86 000 passengers in 2009. In 2011, Le Havre expects 97 calls
for approximately 170 000 passengers.
Rémy Arca and Viviane Richer Chairman and General Manager of Compagnie Internationale de Croisières representing Cunard in France, came to Le Havre on this occasion and commented the future calls
of Queen Elizabeth at Le Havre next year. They pointed out a partial turnaround at Le Havre on January 6th, 2012 on Queen Elizabeth on route for her World Voyage. Their visit allowed them to appreciate the involvement of Le Havre
in Cruise Tourism.
