In an extensive market research carried out by the Hordaland municipality 2009 Hardangervidda Nature Center in Eidfjord, Hardangerfjord, is the most well known attraction in Hardanger.

A whole 69% have heard about this spectacular experience center and 51% have in fact been there.  In second place follows Vøringfossen waterfall, Norway's best visited tourist attraction.   62% found Hardangerfjord better or much better than expected and an additional 35% found it as expected.  On a scale from 1 to 5 (where 5 is the best) Hardangervidda Nature Center got a score of 4,3 for its quality.

Cruise passengers to Eidfjord have the opportunity to combine the waterfall and nature center in a 1/2 day tour.  Here they will witness a 20 minutes breathtaken videograph on 5 screens, as well as inter active exhibitions of flora, fauna, glacier and mountains in Norway's largest national park.
