Szczecin is expecting 12 calls this year compared to three in 2009 with passenger numbers at 7,300, up on 1,439 lastyear. The Polish port also receives river cruise vessels with 100 calls expected this year and 7,500 passengers.
New to the port this year are six ships including Seabourn Sojourn, Saga Pearl II, Fred Olsen Cruise Lines’ Braemar and Delphin Voyager.
The Bulwar Chrobrego berth can accommodate vessels up to 195m in length and 6.3m draught. It is located 800m from the city centre and is dedicated to cruise and sailing ships.
Alternative quays of a total length of 665m and maximum draught of 9.15m (Polskie, Angielskie and Holenderskie) are some 4km away. The turning basis is 280m and there is an air draught of 57m. Maximum size of vessel that can call is about 245m in length and 9.15m draught.
There are plans to modernize and deepen the fairway to Szczecin giving the possibility to accept cruiseships of up 265m in length according to Pawel Krzych, marketing department at the port.
The port is located 68km from the open sea with anchorage available on the road of Swinoujscie. There is also a beth in the city centre suitable for ships of up to 190m length and draught of 9.7m. A ferry terminal is available for possible turnarounds.
