Eidfjord, Hardangerfjord; Spectacular helicopter flights

Submitted by Hardangerfjord on 10 June 2010 - 7:27pm

This summer a low sound helicopter taking 4 passengers will be permanently based in Ulvik, Hardangerfjord.  It will cover all calls at the port of Eidfjord.

A fantastic flight over the national parks Hardangervidda mountain plateau and Folgefonna glacier, as well as the Queen of Norwegian fjords, Hardangerfjord, will be offered through the shore excursion desk on board.  Previously such flights have only been offered occationally, but from this season onwards the base will be in the heart of Hardanger.  A flight is limited to 15 minutes, but during that time the passengers will enjoy a unique experience.

Hardangerfjord will have 74 cruise ship calls this year, carrying about 93.000 passengers.  This is a significant increase from last year, and with 60.000 passengers in Eidfjord the port reports a record.  Product development, increased marketing efforts and generally more focus on the cruise trade have contributed to this.
