Flam focuses on family activities

Flam is placing more emphasis on family activities in order to hold on to the bigger ships, says Sivert Bakk manager port operations Port of Flam.

In the last three to four years, the Norwegian port has seen an increasse in guests from Italy and Spain due to the expansion of Costa Cruises and MSC Cruises. However British and German passengers continue to represent the largest numbers of passengers. 

This year 108 calls and and about 130,000 passengers are expected compared with 123 calls and 142,000 passengers in 2009. Newcomers to the port in 2010, and in their first year of operation, are P&O Cruises’ Azura, Costa Deliziosa and Seabourn Sojourn.

The port can handle any size of vessel alongside with Queen Mary 2 having visited a number of times. There are no wastewater or recycling facilities.
