Cruise passengers arriving in Tallinn, Estonia, this summer stepped off into a medieval market place. In its first year the project has been a success according to Helen Hinno, head of marketing Port of Tallinn, and the port is “planning to extend and continue with it next season”. Also new this year is the provision of free wireless internet network throughout the cruise area.
The Old City Harbour has received a record 305 cruise calls this year carrying 417,000 passengers. So far 279 calls - including seven from new-to-Tallinn vessels - and 400,000 passengers are estimated for 2010. Ships of up to 320m in length can call Tallinn.
The port is looking to develop Lootsi 10 located in the Old City Harbour where there are presently a few shops.
