This year Capital Cruising (CC) was awarded a five-year contract for the management of its Central London Cruise Moorings with MBNA Thames Clippers which includes three moorings: Greenwich Ship Tier, Tower Bridge Upper and George’s Stair Tier.

Under this new accord, CC and Viking Cruises (VC) marked the first direct and closest cruise call between the UK capitals - London and Edinburgh.

Rob Mason, head of cruise CC in Scotland, said: “We are the only operator to offer the closest cruise connection between the two capital cities of the UK. We have invested significantly over the past few years in our cruise business to provide the closest and most direct access for liners to London and Edinburgh which are key attractions.”

Passengers are now able to get right to the heart of the capital at both the Tower of London and Maritime Greenwich. Viking Sea cruised into London on June 27 and arrived in Scotland’s capital on June 29 as part of the Midnight Sun itinerary to Bergen.

At the anchorage in Newhaven, Scotland, Viking Sea’s passengers arrive in the Unesco City of Edinburgh. With the anchorage on the River Forth only three miles from the heart of the historic capital, passengers are within easy reach of Edinburgh Castle and the Palace of Holyrood.

Matt Grimes, itinerary development, nautical & technical operations VC, said: "This is the third year that Viking has sailed between London and Edinburgh. We are grateful to Capital Cruising for the new services in London which are enhancing our guests’ experience.”

The moorings are expected to welcome over 100 vessels during 2018.
