Trondheim is conducting a survey this summer to find out how much cruise passengers spend in town. And also how many disembark the ships when in town. The results will be released this autumn.

This summer passengers and crew are being offered 10% discount in many of the shops in the city centre. All they have to do is show their cabin card. Fifty calls and about 65,000 passengers are due to call the Norwegian port this year.

The most popular tour this year is the tram tour. The 1950s tram is the northernmost tram in the world. It takes passengers on a 1m rail gauge the 8.8km to lake Lian which takes about 30 minutes. The tram passes by Ila, site of the old city wall, and offers great views over Trondheim. At the lake they continue to the ski jump area Granasen by coach.
