The Normandy Tourism Board, in partnership with the Normandy cruise destinations Cherbourg, Le Havre, Honfleur and Rouen has just produced a video highlighting the economic impact of cruises on the territory. The clip is in French language because it is aimed to local, regional and national stakeholders (institutions, communities and professionals). Professionals witness on the impact of maritime and river cruises regarding the activity, which vary depending on the sectors and the time of year. This can be up to 100% for some professionals working only in this segment, such as some destination management companies. Retailers, restaurants and souvenir shops have adapted, offering regional products to cruise ships passengers waiting for authenticity and they take courses in foreign languages to welcome their visitors. All are optimistic due to the expected development of maritime and river cruises in the coming years. In 2016, the 4 Normandy ports welcomed 200 stops and more than 408,000 passengers. The survey carried out in 2016 by a specialized institute reveals an average expenditure around 100 € per passenger in Cherbourg, Honfleur and Le Havre.
