SeaWalk success in Skjolden

Friday, August 1, 2014 - 09:20 by ce-press

The new quay and SeaWalk in Skjolden are working very well on two-ship days. Being about a quarter of a mile apart means there is no passenger congestion.

Port fees for SeaWalk are the same as the quay. On one-ship days, the captain/cruiseline is given the opportunity to try the SeaWalk pier for the same charge as the quay.

There are 26 calls scheduled this year. Focus is being given to expanding the shore excursions. Starting in 2016 there will be a fast rib (rigid inflatable boat) fjord tour. Also on offer are high lake trout fishing for the smaller, luxury vessels. Being a private port, it is able to mobilise very quickly in response to unique requests.

The vision is to expand not only the facilities but the service base. With the infrastructure now in place, the future is in expanding the land side. There is also a llama farm within walking distance of the ship.
