Rotterdam is now in a position to be able to supply LNG to AIDA Cruises’ AIDAprima while she is in port. Due to the berth being in the heart of the city it has taken some time for the appropriate studies, such as safety, to take place but the Municipality has given it the green light and she has already called.
The LNG is supplied by truck. Only one is allowed on the quayside at a time. One tank/truck serves for 12 hours and this is then replaced with another for a further 12 hours.
Rotterdam joins Hamburg, Southampton, Le Havre and Zeebrugge which have been supplying LNG to AIDAprima since the newbuilding began sailing the ‘metropolis’ itinerary back in April.
