Rotterdam and LNG

Rotterdam is a port that can welcome cruise ships – of any size - right into the very heart of the city. We are happy to report that AIDAprima now can fuel LNG when in port.
AIDAprima is capable of converting LNG on board to electricity for hotel purposes. Once the ship is at the quay LNG is an even greater asset to the environment.

In general; low-sulphur fuels is compulsory in Rotterdam and our territorial waters. This is legally defined and enforced by law.
* Always at the quay, the main engine is shut off and smaller generators provide for electricity.
*all ships are equiped with EGCS systems (Exhaust Gas Cleaning Systems) to filter emission and even particles.
*modern engines use less fuel
*residual heat is re-used for heating purposes on board and also self-sufficient water purification systems are to be found on board the ship.

Just a few examples of environmental friendly measures on cruise ships. LNG driven ships is the next on the agenda, the first ship being delivered in 2019/2020 and we are looking forward to see her at our LNG bunkering platform.
