On June 7, MSC Magnifica and Norwegian Jade both made inaugural calls to Olden (pictured). Carrying 3,605 and 2,000 passengers it was quite a day for this picturesque Norwegian port.

It became an extremely busy day with no less than 41 buses going on excursions, in addition to other organised activities like hiking, RIB boats and kayaking.

The largest part of the visitors went to the Briksdal Glacier as well as the Kjenndal Glacier which confirms Nordfjord’s position as Gateway to the Glaciers. The Jostedalsbreen National Park Center also received many visitors as well as the Panorama Road, a picturesque journey along the Nordfjord.

The MSC Magnifica was in Olden from 0800 to 1700 at the pier. Norwegian Jade was at anchor from 0900 to 1800 which is 0.3nm to the tender jetty. The ship’s own tender boats were used to accommodate people ashore.

As is customary both ships were visited by the Port Authority of Nordfjord and were given a crest as a welcome.
