With 7 calls during the last week of April only and more to come in May, growing numbers of cruise ship passengers are expected in Le Havre : AIDAdiva, MSC Splendida, Viking Star, AIDAmar, Ovation of the Seas, Celebrity Eclipse, Costa Luminosa... a wide variety of ships and multilingual visitors. In order to satisfy everyone, the Cruise Terminal has adapted its organization accordingly: the staff is selected on their skills to speak foreign languages and tourist brochures are also displayed in appropriate languages. The entire staff must speak English and also practices other languages such as Italian, Spanish, Dutch, Portuguese ... and of course German, as the Germans have become the main cruise visitors in Le Havre. Indeed, the beginning of the season was marked by the weekly presence of AIDAmar, every Tuesday, which will be succeeded by AIDAprima from May 3rd. Also to be mentioned TUI, with 8 calls for Mein Schiff 1, 3 and 4 this year. The destination keeps making efforts to fit the customers’ profile. Thus, 40 shop retailers were trained on hospitality in foreign languages, by the Chamber of Commerce as part of the Cruise Club program…
