The port of Lisbon won, for the first time, the award for the Best Cruise Port Europe, and the city of Lisbon, the second time, the award for the Best Cruise Destination Europe, which were delivered in Athens, in 02 august, during the 21st World Travel Awards - Europe 2014.
In addition to Lisbon were also nominated for both categories the cities of Amsterdam, Copenhagen and Venice.
The Administration of the Port of Lisbon is delighted with the attainment of these awards, which are the recognition of the quality of the tourism product offered as well as the fruitful relationship and complementarity collaboration between the city and its port.
Above all, these victories increases the international recognition of the city and the port, resulting in increased visibility, which will be further enhanced with the new Cruise Terminal in Lisbon, which will certainly be a reference on the international cruise market and will place Lisbon among the best ports and cities concerning this activity, hence contributing towards the consolidation of tourist attractions in the city, area, and country.
The World Travel Awards honor the best examples of good practices in the tourism sector, and it is in this sense that APL has worked and will continue to work, as of now, together with the LCT - Lisbon Cruise Terminals to pursuing a common goal – to drive the port and the city of Lisbon, as a cruise destination of excellence.
Is important also to refer that the port of Lisbon won the award for Best International Cruise Port in 2011, awarded by the Spanish group Cruise News Media Group, as a result of a survey of more than 2,000 cruise passengers. This award was delivered in Bilbao, in the second edition Cruise Awards of Excellence, for the Atlantic and northern Europe.
Lisbon was the Europe’s Leading Cruise Destination in 2009 and after winning this award, the port and the city of Lisbon were since 2010 again nominated for World Travel Awards - World and Europe.
