LE HAVRE RDV2017 TALL SHIPS REGATTA

Monday, August 28, 2017 - 15:19 by le-havre

August 31 – September 3 - the only tall ship event of its kind in France in 2017.
After several months at sea, crossing the Atlantic twice, the world’s tallest ships will dock in the port of Le Havre for the arrival of the RDV2017 Tall ships Regatta. Their 1,200 crew members will offer free visits of their ships during the day. The city’s quays will also host a village of attractions, a parade of the ships' crews, a firework display, concerts during the day and evening and other festive happenings. Thirty tall ships from a dozen or so countries are expected, including Russian vessels Mir and Kruzenstern (113 and 108 meters, respectively), the Belem, Brazilian and Portuguese military ships and other historical jewels such as the Gulden Leeuw, an elegant Dutch schooner built in 1937. The prestigious fleet will leave Le Havre on Sunday September 3rd, with an impressive parade of sails up to Cap de la Hève from 8.30 to 11.30 am. The Tall Ships of Le Havre coincides with the arrival of the RDV2017 Tall Ships Regatta, a twice-across-theAtlantic crossing that has set off from Greenwich (UK) in April to join Sinès (Portugal), then the Bermudas, Boston, Québec City, Halifax and finally Le Havre.
Cruise guests on board P&O Cruises’ Azura and Croisieurope’s Boticelli will be able to take advantage of of the chance to call at Le Havre, on September 1st, to enjoy this festive event held as part of “A Summer in Le Havre”.
