The Tour de France passed through Le Havre on July 9, 20 years after its previous visit. The sixth stage of the tour, Abbeville-Le Havre, is almost exclusively along coastal route.

The peloton passed through Dieppe, Fecamp, Saint-Valery-en-Caux and, 30km from the finish, the spectacular cliffs of Etretat.

The last few kilometres provided a final in Le Havre passing through Sainte-Adresse, the waterfront and the centre of the Unesco city (rebuilt by Auguste Perret) before the arrival in front of the Fort de Tourneville.

Passengers on Royal Princess had front row views as the cyclists went by.
