Kalundborg has six calls and 6,000 passengers this year compared to five calls and 5,000 passengers in 2009.
Newcomers to the Danish port are Fred Olsen Cruise Lines’ Boudicca, Cruise & Maritime Voyages’ Marco Polo, Page & Moy’s Athena and Peter Deilmann’s Deutschland.
The port has a single quay of 330m in length and 10m depth. The inner basin has a diameter of 250m and the outer 300m.
There is no passenger terminal but the port can handle about 2,500 passengers at one time, according to Liselotte Rorup, marketing manager Cruise Kalundborg.
It is 10 to 15 minutes walk to the city centre but free shuttle buses are provided for those who would rather go by vehicle.
