The Port of Kalundborg has at the present cruise quay a direct pipeline for black and grey water that feeds directly into the public sewage system at a rate of 40m3 per hour.

At the new Western Quay that will be ready for the season 2019*, the port will install a PRF that will enable cruiseships to discharge directly at the terminal at a rate of 100m3 per hour. The connection will feed into at tank and then into the public sewage system where wastewater will be processed at the wastewater treatment plant.

The facilities will be in line with the IMO/HELCOM regulations for cruise vessels in the Baltic that will apply to new vessels from 2019 and to all existing vessels from 2021. It also meets IMO guidelines for Directive 2000/59/EC on PRF for ship-generated waste and cargo residues.

*Construction of the new quay, that is 500m long and has 15m of water depth, has commenced. It will be ready for the 2019 season. The operation area for cruiseships is 25,000m2.
