On June 17 2018 Port of Cromarty Firth/Invergordon celebrated 40 years of welcoming cruiseships to the port.

To mark the occasion, the port invited its volunteer groups to an evening cruise on Loch Ness to thank them for all their hard work.

These included: Invergordon Tourism Alliance, which welcomed the cruiseships and helps the passengers with directions/plans for their stay; Seafarer’s which opens its church for passengers and crew and provides free WiFi and hospitality to crew members from around the world; Invergordon community council and the Invergordon old town residents association, which tends to the flowers and gardens and keeps the town looking pretty; and Invergordon Museum which highlights the history of the port and provides a free craft fair for passengers when they visit the town.

Jacobite Cruises, which is one of the most popular tours for passengers who visit the area and want to find Nessie, put on the two-hour cruise. The port provided onboard entertainment in the form of two singers and a caricaturist. It also laid on a buffet and drinks for the guests and provided coach transport for everyone.

“A number of our guests had never done a cruise on Loch Ness, so it was a real treat. The sun shone all evening and it was a beautiful sail. The volunteers expressed their gratitude that their work had been recognised and that they had been treated to such a great evening,” commented Joanne Allday, marketing and PR manager Port of Cromarty Firth, Invergordon.
