
Lisbon welcomed Iberocruceros on its first partial turnarounds this year.
Transit calls in 2011 numbered 266 and homeports 70 bringing 456,079 and 51,071 passengers respectively. Next year there are 282 transit and 69 homeport calls forecast, bringing 524,675 and 40,123 passengers respectively. In 2012 MSC Divina will call on her maiden voyage.
The Portuguese port welcomed 16 new visitors this year including Compagnie du Ponant’s L’Austral on her maiden voyage, Seabourn Odyssey, Costa Pacifica, P&O Cruises’ Adonia, Silversea Cruises’ Silver Explorer, Dawn Princess, TUI Cruises’ Mein Schiff 2 and Royal Caribbean International’s Adventure of the Seas. For 2012 newcomers include Saga Sapphire, Oceania Cruises’ Riviera and AIDA Cruises’ AIDAmar.
The Port Authority of Lisbon has completed the construction of a new pier which, together with the existing one, now offers 1,450m of berthing in the Santa Apolonia Area. At the same time the port has increased the existing terminal facilities with two new infrastructures of 500m2 each. The parking area has also been increased.
In 2014 the port expects to open a new E22.5m, 7,790m2 terminal. The E22.5m Lisbon Cruise Terminal is being designed with comfort, accessibility and flexibility at its core and will meet the demands of both current and future traffic.
