Harbour parade opened in Oslo

On June 14 the first part of a 9km harbour parade was opened in Oslo. The four cruise quays are included in the central part of the project giving passengers easy access to both the waterfront and the city.

Oslo has 105 calls and about 205,000 passengers this year but it is keen to encourage more calls, both transit and turnarounds.

There are more than 200 international and 30 domestic airline routes to nearby Oslo Airport. In 2017 an extended terminal building costing $2.3bn will be opened, hence increasing capacity from 23m passengers handled in 2013 to 28m.

Those ships in compliance with the Environmental Ship Index register will receive considerable rebates for arrivals both on fees from the Norwegian Coastal Administration and the port. The latter also discounts multi- and off-season arrivals.

Not being part of the European Union means that cruise passengers can shop tax-free.
