In September, Hamburg will once again play host to the Hamburg Cruise Days and Seatrade Europe, which will be held shortly prior to the festival. Prior to this the Hafengeburststag port festival will take place May 5 to 7 with seven ships in port.

TUI Cruises’ Mein Schiff 6 will be christened by the Elbphilharmonie on June 1, the concert hall having finally opened its doors in January.

More than 200 calls bringing about 800,000 passengers are expected this year, an increase of 12% on 2016’s 171 calls and 722,000 passengers.

A record 10 cruiseships will be in port during the Hamburg Cruise Days September 8 to 10. Participating in the parade will be AIDAprima, MSC Preziosa, Europa and Europa 2 (Hapag-Lloyd Cruises), Mein Schiff 3 (TUI Cruises), Albatros and Amadea (Phoenix Reisen), Silver Wind (Silversea Cruises), as well as the Norwegian Jade and Sans Souci (Plantours). The latter will be the first time a river ship has participated in the event.

During the event, the port will once again be illuminated as part of the Blue Port Hamburg light installation. More than one hundred objects in Hamburg’s port will be lit up by light artist Michael Batz.

Seatrade Europe will take place September 6 to 8.
