Four new companies call Gijon this year

Submitted by CE-Press on 5 October 2010 - 9:47am

Gijon has succeeded in bringing in four new companies this year. Cruise & Maritime Voyages, Phoenix Reisen, Compagnie des Iles du Ponant and Azamara Club Cruises have all called for the first time with the former two bringing in two ships. The Spanish port will receive 10 calls in total this year.

By the end of this year the extension works at the port will be completed. Beginning in 2005 the total surface area of the port will be doubled.

Presently there are five quays available for cruiseships ranging in size from Muelle Olano with a length of 560.73m and 14m depth to 9a Alineacion Muelles de La Osa at 164.89m in length and 10.8m depth. None of them are dedicated to cruiseships and there is no terminal. Waste water and recycling facilities are available at the port.

It is 20 minutes by free shuttle bus to the city centre.
