The pier in Flam has been extended by 10m to 120m in length. Two new mooring buoys have been added in order to ensure safe anchorage.

The train station and visitor centre have been modernised. An additional 0720 train is now available on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from June 14 to August 31 2015. Upon request additional dates will be considered. The high season summer schedule with 10 daily departures has been extended by two weeks and now runs from April 19 to October 4.

In terms of tourist attractions there is now a year-round ski lift at Myrkdalen Ski Resort 45 minutes from Flam. Hiking is a possibility in the summer and snow can linger into June. In May crew from MSC Poesia were taken on a trial run experiencing near-winter in the mountains and then sailing on the fjord.

A new lighting system showing images of the Northern Lights has been installed in the Magic White Caves. Also on offer are the Holo mountain farm with smokehouse and brewery which has been enhanced; the cultural hiking trail 300m from the pier; the possibility of biking back from Myrdal station; and the deer farm in Laerdal.

The port is also working on the possibility of installing an ice-skating rink and recently begun providing a barbecue for the crew.
