MORE THAN 40.000 PASSENGERS IN THE FIRST HALF OF 2017
In the first six months of 2017, cruise operations at the Port of Leixões recorded a 29% increase in cruise ship calls and a 64% increase in passenger numbers, compared to the same period of last year.
The first semester of this year marks an unprecedented period of growth for the Port of Leixões, which welcomed 45 cruise ships, 6 of them new to the port and also 40 917 cruise tourists from around the world but particularly UK, Germany and USA. For the first time the Japanese passengers appear in a prominent position being the 4th most important nationality among the passengers visiting our two cruise terminals.
These numbers also represent a 15% increase in the number of cruise calls and a 24% increase in the number of passengers over the same period of 2015, which was the best year ever for cruise activity at Leixões.
If predictions are confirmed, 2017 will be the best year ever for the cruise activity at the Port of Leixões. By the end of this year 105 cruise ship calls will have visited Leixões, 11 cruise ships are scheduled to arrive with the first arrival and more than 100 000 passengers.
