A Coruna to open terminal in 2011

The Port of A Coruna will complete a 500m2 terminal (see simulated photograph) at the Transatlantic Quay just 50m from the city centre in 2011 according to Marta Rodriguez Pantin, commercial manager. The port is expecting 65 calls and 80,000 passengers this year compared with 55 calls and 53,069 passengers in 2009.

Pullmantur Cruises is coming to the port for the first time inn 2010 with Empress. Ships on first time visits inlude Seabourn Sojourn, Mein Schiff, AIDAblu, Norwegian Sun, Saga Pearl and Independence of the Seas.

There are three quays available for cruiseships. The Transatlantic Quay has a length of 484m, a width of 35m and a draught of 11m. The Bateria Quay (length 218m, width 56m and draught 9m) and the Calvo Sotelo quay (length 210m, width 20m and draught 10m) are within a free shuttle bus ride of the city centre.
