Cruise bookings at Cork number 54 for 2011 to date. All three Cunard Line ‘Queens’ will call next year and Holland America Line is returning to the port with four calls.
This year about 100,5000 passengers arrived on 52 calls to Cobh, Ireland’s only dedicated cruise berth. The port is hoping to increase its call numbers to 75 in the next five years, says Captain Michael McCarthy, commercial manager. He adds that this will mean further investment in the cruise berth to handle even larger ships and to increase the number of overnight stays.
