The cornerstone of the new terminal was laid this year with completion scheduled for 2012. Three vessels, each of 280m in length and 10m draught, will be accommodated simultaneously.
Between 2004 and 2007 passenger numbers grew by almost 400% from 9,000 to 36,000. From 2008 to 2010 the growth has been more moderate but steady from 32,461 to 35,201. This year has been the second best in terms of cruise passenger numbers.
This year for the first time passengers have been able to visit Kaliningrad, a small piece of Russia, from Klaipeda.
