The overall number of visitors to Copenhagen and Malmo this season is expected to be 780,000 passengers and 230,000 crew distributed over 324 calls.

On August 30 this year, Copenhagen Malmo Port (CMP) welcomed the largest number of passengers so far. Royal Princess, Costa Luminosa and MSC Poesia docked at Ocean Quay with a total of over 8,700 passengers ending their cruise in Copenhagen and 8,700 new passengers starting their cruise with the three ships later in the day.

On August 8 Royal Princess, Norwegian Star and Eurodam docked at Ocean Quay on turnaround calls putting the three new passenger terminals through their paces. About 8,000 passengers disembarked, making way for 8,000 new passengers to embark with at least 32,000 pieces of luggage involved in the process.

A day such as this places enormous demands on all the staff from CMP, the bus and taxi companies, the incoming agencies, the guides and everyone else involved. On the same day Azamara Journey docked at Orient Quay and Legend of the Seas and Mein Schiff 2 at Langelinie Quay.

“It is on days like this that we really get to test our capacity. Ocean Quay was designed for this, and we have arranged the terminals so that we can check the large numbers of passengers in and out. But when it really gets down to it, it is always exciting to see if we can manage it. I feel it went well, all things considered, and it’s something we can be proud of,” said Arnt Moller Pedersen, chief operations officer, cruise & ferries CMP.

”CMP has achieved a high standard of service when it comes to cruises, but we haven’t reached that level on our own.” The Cruise Copenhagen Network plays a major part in the logistics including Copenhagen Airport which ensures that the ship to plane transfer is problem-free.
