On September 27 Princess Cruises’ Grand Princess will call Bergen. She is the last call for the season, bringing passenger numbers to about 293,000 and calls to 241. This compares with 260 calls and 282,938 passengers in 2009.
For next year, the Norwegian port already has 265 calls booked and is expecting up to 400,000 passengers. Eight ships will make inaugural calls to Bergen including Cunard Line’s Queen Elizabeth, Oceania Cruises’ Marina, Costa Cruises’ Costa Pacifica and Kristina Cruises’ Kristina Katarina.
Helen Hovland, marketing manager Port of Bergen, says: “What we are seeing is that larger ships are visiting Port of Bergen.”
