Bergen in Norway is expecting 242 calls and up to 290,000 passengers this year. In 2009 passenger numbers were similar but calls were up at 260. New ships to call this year include Seabourn Sojourn, Costa Deliziosa, P&O Cruises’ Azura, Saga Pearl II, AIDAluna and MSC Poesia.
The port has no limit for the size of ships coming alongside but an air draught of 63m due to the Askoy Bridge says Helen Hovland, marketing manager Port of Bergen.
The main docking area is Skolten/Bontelabo/Festningskaien within easy walking distance of the city centre. On busy days, the very lage ships dock at Jekteviken/Dokken where free shuttle buses are available for passengers wanting to explore Bergen individually.
Minibuses which can handle wheelchairs are also provided free of charge.
